Radium Girls

Bellevue High School Performance of Radium Girls performed December 4th, 2025 - a play about radium used in watches that was later found to be harmful to the girls making them. Desah played on of the affected factory workers.
The Radium Girls were young women who worked in US factories in the 1920s, painting luminescent watch dials with radium-based paint, who suffered severe radiation poisoning from ingesting the substance by "lip-pointing" their brushes, leading to bone decay, cancer, and death; their courageous lawsuits against their employers for covering up the dangers paved the way for crucial workplace safety laws and workers' compensation
